Features of the long-travel technologie
  • The main advantage of long-travel keyboards is the key travel of around 4mm which provides good tactile feedback.
  • The ease of operation and the long operating life of up to 50 million switchings makes this technology ideal for data entry.
  • The ergonomics are better than any other technology.
  • The keycaps can be shaped, arranged, and even colour-coded to offer an ideal man-mashine interface.
  • Keycaps come in many shapes and sizes to allow the designer to develop a special keyboard for all uses.
  • The keycaps are normally lasered to obtain a durable lettering that can't rub off.
  • Special plastics allow the lasered lettering on dark keys to become lighter and darker on light keycaps.
Assembly of a keyswitch:
  • The mechanical assembly of the Cherry MX-keyswitch we use is very durable. The cross-fitting assures the good fit of the ceycap on the switch.
  • The housing of the swich has integrated clips to allow it to be easily fastened to a key plate. This carrier plate is usually made of steel and keeps mechanical forces away from the PCB to which the keys are souldered.
Possibilities of changable lettering:
  • Keycaps with transparent caps allow the changing of the lettering. Pieces of paper are inserted between the keycap and the clear cap.
  • The advantage of this type is the possibility of simply coloring the backgrounds and the lettering at will.
Integration of a single key into a layout:
  • The keys can be arranged in any way desired, providing the keyswitches have the appropriate fittings and ample distances between them.
  • Single keys can be replaced on a standard keyboard to emphasise their special funcitons such as the F-Keys
  • Language versions can be changed.
  • The key plate also serves as mounting plate and can be mounted into a housing or to a front plate of a rack system or the like.
  • The PCB contains the matrix to which the keys are connected. This matrix is a grid of rows and colums which are scannes by the controller.
  • The seitches form the junction between the rows and the colums. As soon as a key is pressed these paths are connected and tell the controller which key os pressed.
Modules
  • The controller can be connected to the matrix externally or it can be directly integrated onto the PCB.
  • GeBE's specialty is the integration of other components such as displays, touchscreens, trackballs and other equipment onto the PCB.
Perfectly designed housings
  • GeBE's own design department designs housings to encorporate simple keyboards as well as complex enclosures for input/output systems.
